"Marudo Mill, in the heart of the Po Valley, near Sant'angelo Lodigiano: overthere Pietro Scotti was born, who in 1860 founded the Riso Scotti.
At the time it was a agricultural farm devoted to raw rice assortment with local farmers for whom Mr. Scotti worked the cereal markets to third parties. Farming in those years of the century was one of the main resources and economic activities of the population.

In 1890, his son Hercules Scotti moved to Villanterio on Mulina Canal, establishing the first seat of a total area of 1,200 square meters.
Angelo and Gaetano Scotti, two of the eight children of Mr. Hercules, followed his father's footsteps, assisting and dealing with the transport of rice, and starting the development of the society, from individual to what is right now, under the name of "Fratelli Scotti" (Scotti Brothers), based in Villanterio.

As a result of changes in production, occurred with technological innovation, the company was able to progressively increase the processing and transformation of rice and, from artisan who was, soon became the industrial structure.

In 1953 Ferdinando Scotti, Angelo's son, bought an old mill and a rice mill in the village of Tower in Pavia, started to dismantle, modernize and move the company headquarters from Villanterio in there.
In 1956 Ferdinand Scotti, became managing director of the newly formed company "Riso Scotti" and incorporated the establishment of Villanterio. F.lli Scotti, created thirty years ago, instead ceases to exist.

In 1957, Riso Scotti went from paper bags to cardboard cartons. In those years starts the real transformation of the company from craft to real industry.
In 1979, Dr. Angelo Dario Scotti, Ferdinando's son, made his entrance in the family business, before devoting himself to the commercial and marketing, then, since 1986, working as a managing director.

In 1992 traditional packaging were replaced and vacuum bag was introduced.

Riso Scotti was the first rice mill in Italy to bring this important technological innovation that has also been supported by a wide advertising campaign, which had as its slogan "mild moth does not live here."

Riso Scotti in 1993 chose Gerry Scotti as his testimonial with the famous catchphrase "Dr. Scotti."
In 1996 he launched the vacuum parboiled rice for risotto and rice salads.
In 2000 the era of third generation rice began: after the white and parboiled, rice as an ingredient. The diversification of production starts, with the inclusion of products such as rice noodles, rice milk, bread substitutes ... that will come in the dietary habits of the Italians.

In March 2004, following the death of his father in 2003, Dario Scotti takes office as President of Riso Scotti SpA.

In the same year, the new production company called "Bivio Vela" was inaugurated: an area of 135,000 square meters, with a production capacity of one million tons of processed product.
Nowadays Riso Scotti distributes its products in over 60 countries worldwide, including 23 non-European countries, relying on strong partnerships with talented local operators.

It's strongly committed to Eastern Europe, where in Romania was started, in 2005, the "Danube project", an innovative agro-industrial complex, which has established, de facto, the process of internationalization of the brand and of the transfer of Italian culture of rice processing: Riso Scotti, in fact, was able to export abroad his "system", before by consolidating its position in the European market and then acting as a role model.

The recent joint venture with the Spanish food company Ebro Foods hightights Riso Scotti on all major international markets, and brings with it the vocation of specialists of rice and risotto.
"We believe that the consumption of all Italian risotto can be exported, and has the potential to become one of the symbols of the food made in Italy: synonym of quality and tradition."
