The name Originary was introduced at the beginning of the century to distinguish the pure and original rice of Japan from the local ones, characterized by a strong crossbreeding.

All of the current rice from the Originary group are, as a matter of fact, derived from Omahi or Chinese Originary, and retain all of the characteristics of their Japanese precursors: short and round grains, a pearly look and a high capacity of absorption.

An ideal rice for soups and “minestrone”, risottos with vegetables, gratinated dishes, stuffing recipes, rice cakes, croquettes and arancini.
