The environmental policy

Founded in 1860 and leader of a team of companies specialized in the manufacturing and processing of rice, RISO SCOTTI S.p.A. was one of the first Italian rice mills to produce and market the packed rice, thus ensuring consistent quality and hygiene of the product.
The attention to the product has always reconciled environmental issues and safety related to the production process.

In this view, Riso Scotti, during the conduct of its activities, is committed to:

• maintain compliance with all environmental laws and regulations applicable to the company and to its environmental aspects
• prevent pollution, minimize the environmental impact of its own activities
• pursue the continuous improvement of its environmental performance according to the standards promoted by the best available technology.

With this purpose, Riso Scotti has identified the following areas of focus for the formulation of objectives for improvement:

• continually monitor and improve the performance of our own environmental aspects, with particular reference to atmospheric emissions, water discharges, waste
• securing and developing effective communications to the internal and external staff working on behalf of the company
• assess beforehand the environmental impacts of new processes, facilities and modifications to existing plants/installations
• monitor constantly the working methods and operating procedures to protect the environment
• promote among internal staff the sharing of business objectives and individual responsibilities
• provide training and awareness to each person in the company of its own role in relation to the environmental issues
• disseminate environmental policy among the stakeholders

CERTIFICATION UNI EN ISO 14001:2004

The 04/02/2010, Riso Scotti obtained from the BV the certification UNI EN ISO 14001:2004, in enforcing environmental protection during all business processes.

Obtaining the certification UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 testifies and recognizes the positive commitment of Riso Scotti in developing, implementing, maintaining active and improve its own policy and its environmental management system, in complete accordance with the principles dictated by the regulations and based on the philosophy of Quality.

In the field of reference, Riso Scotti is today among the first companies to have received this certification, and this is an important sign of coherence towards a precise choice that for years leads the company to operate in its industrial environment, guided by principles of sustainable development and advanced technologies with low environmental impact.

To implement an environmental management system means to achieve a comprehensive management of environmental issues, enabling the company to address them in a broad, systematic and consistent way that will ensure continuous improvement of environmental performance. The recently obtained certification is, for our company, a prestigious result, the fruit of the efforts and professional passion of all the persons working daily with Riso Scotti, they contributed actively to its attainment.

The next target for Riso Scotti is to create a system that integrates the procedures provided by the UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 with those of the UNI EN ISO 9001.
